Anyone here have an opinion of Andy McNab's Nick Stone books?
Some people recommended him to me, but I started reading the first Nick Stone book and read some wiki articles and I'm a bit hesitent. For one thing, McNab makes to much of a deal out of his SAS background, making me wonder if he's just another poser. For another, his fiction has the Brit intel and special ops community acting in some pretty amoral ways, even suggesting that they intentionally killed people on their own side and blamed PIRA in order to prolong the Irish Troubles, thus securing their own budget. It reminds me to much of the "CIA killed Kennedy to keep Vietnam going" type conspiracy theories. |

Look for it at half-price books or the remainder bins or a library book sale. I figure I can afford to risk a couple of bucks to see if I like him. The other option is would these be available in a library for check out??? That's a free demo. |
